About the Fremont Fire Department

Engine 51Serving the fourth largest city in the San Francisco Bay Area, Fremont Fire is a dynamic all-risk department responding to over 16,000 calls per year. With critical infrastructure surrounding the city, responses include the Dumbarton Bridge, Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART), Tesla Motors Inc., Lam Research, Mission Peak, and Interstates 680, 880, and Highway 84.

From a well-maintained fleet of Pierce apparatus, to 11 new and renovated stations, and an accredited Tactical Training Center, the Department offers a work environment that doesn't settle for the status quo.

For instance, with the ever-growing number of rolling power outages and wildfires affecting California, the City of Fremont knew it needed to make sure first responders had power even if the local utility agencies deemed it necessary to power down.

That's why the City worked with Fremont-based Gridscape Solutions, a renewable energy project developer, to build a microgrid system at Fire Stations 6, 7, and 11.  Not only does it ensure power without dependence on local utilities, it also saves on energy costs and decreases the municipal greenhouse gas footprint.
