Division Overview

Fremont Fire has one goal: to minimize the loss of life and property. However, the phrase “it takes a village” comes to mind when it comes to us achieving that goal.

The Fremont Fire Department has five distinct Divisions: Fire Suppression, Fire Prevention, Fire Administration, Training & Emergency Medical Services and Emergency Management.  Each Division has its own mission and focus, and requires unique talents and skillsets.

Read on to explore what Division might be the best fit for your own abilities and passion.

Fremont Fire Department Divisions

Fire Suppression – The Fire Suppression Division delivers emergency services to the community.  Services are delivered from 11 strategically located fire stations and 13 fire companies (11 fire engines, 2 fire trucks). Fire companies extinguish fires, provide medical aid, perform rescue operations, mitigate hazardous materials releases, and assists the public. If you’ve dreamed of being on the front lines of firefighting, this is the division for you.

Training and Emergency Medical Services (EMS) - The Training and EMS Division ensures personnel who deliver services to the community have met all certification and continuing education requirements. Training topics include fire suppression and rescue training, hazardous materials training, new equipment and technology training, and paramedic/emergency medical technician training. Each Fire Suppression employee is required to complete a minimum of 240 hours of training annually. If you have a passion for both teaching and being a lifelong learner, an assignment in Training and EMS just may fit the bill.

Hazmat InspectorFire Prevention - The Fire Prevention Division reduces the threat of fires and medical emergencies through engineering, education, and enforcement. The Fire Prevention Division participates in the engineering of new buildings to ensure that the Fire Department has adequate access in an emergency scenario and that buildings are equipped with the appropriate fire and life safety features required by law; think fire sprinklers, fire alarms, exit signs, and fire extinguishers. If you are a critical thinker with an engineering mindset, consider Fire Prevention.

FAST TeamFire Administration – The Fire Administration Division provides all the behind-the-scene support to ensure those on the front line have the tools, equipment, policies, and procedures in place to achieve the Department’s mission. The Fire Administration Division oversees Department purchasing, payroll, budgeting, staff reports, grant administration, and other administrative duties as assigned. If you have a gift for organization and work better behind the curtain, consider Fire Administration.

Emergency Management – The Emergency Management Division executes on community emergency preparedness, and the City’s ability to respond to, mitigate, and recover from a natural or man-made disaster. This Division is focused on ensuring personnel designated as Essential Emergency Workers are trained in the Incident Command System, developing plans to mitigate the disasters that could arise in Fremont, and creating emergency readiness training and exercises. If you have a calm, cool, and collected personality that thrives in emergency situations, Emergency Management could be the place for you.
